Decoupage frame

Hi There!
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I certainly had. A weekend of doing nothing. We all need one of those every once in a while, right?
Wonderhusband was working, the kids all had stuff to do, and I had almost the whole weekend by myself....heaven!
So I crafted...uninterrupted and without guilt. Did three  projects, all decoupage.

First one I'll show you is the frame:
I started out with this wooden frame and some decoupage paper..
I applied the "modge podge", which, in my case, is plain old Elmer's white glue, slightly diluted by wetting the brush. I don't recommend it, but it works for me, for smaller projects.

After I stuck the paper on, it looked like this...

Then I added some words, which I had to buy , because I do not own a Cricut....yet...my birthday is next month, Hubby!
I actually found some really nice vinyl phrases at The Dollar Tree a while back, that I bought with a project like this in mind.

Distressed the edges by sanding lightly, then used an ink pad  on the edges to antique . OK, I'm lying through my teeth here. I do not own an ink pad, so I "borrowed" Wonderhusband's brown shoe polish. Worked just as well.

I sealed it with three layers of Polyurethaine sprayed on.

TA DA!  The finished product...

I apologise for the bad pictures..it was dark and I had to use a flash, which just does not do it justice. That seam, for instance, does not show up half as clearly without the harsh light of the flash. I would make sure to avoid that if I make this for someone else. As this is just a trial run, I let it slide...

This is a no cost project, since I had everything, but if you want to count the Vinyl, it was $1.00.
Not too bad for a dollar, don't you think?
