Little Green Shelf

I saw this cute little thing at my local Goodwill the other day. It was love at first sight.

It looks like it used to be some kind of hutch or something...but I had other plans for her.

I had Hubby cut off the bottom part, since she was going on the wall.

I actually liked her just the way she was in her

 dirty yellow, and could just leave her like that, but where is the fun in that?

So, I sprayed her with a green Pistachio from Krylon (after priming , of course...I am a really responsible

 painter these days).

I antiqued a little with an ooold tube of artist's Burnt Umber, that I just rubbed on a little here and there.

And, of course, distressing...love that!

The black and white paper I decoupaged on the back looked too bright and stark on

 this otherwise older looking piece, so I rubbed that with the Burnt Umber, too.

And here she is.......isn't she lovely? Makes me want to break

 into song:

 "Isn't she lovely? Isn't she wonderful? na na na na na..."

Hu Uhm..never mind.

Buffet Transformation

Soooo...after years of transforming ( mostly by painting) my own old furniture and decorating items (I get bored with stuff veeerry quickly), I discover this whole community of bloggers who love what I love..
Yeah me!

I got so bold after stalking some of your blogs for a while, that I promptly went out and got me this UUGLY buffet that was transported from the 80's right to my local Goodwill Store...

This is how it turned out....L.O.V.E.!! 

 I kept waiting for something to go wrong, because I usually mess up

big projects as a result of my laziness  impatience, but I followed the advice of Becca at Blue Cricket Designs on furniture-refinishing and now I love not only my new buffet, but I love her too! Go check her out ...and be inspired like me.

Unlike Becca, I used spray paint.  I told you I was impatient. Painting in the garage with no air conditioning  in mid-summer in Phoenix had its own price, though. I am pretty sure my secret ingredient may be a bucket  of sweat drops added in....

I primed with Kilz spray primer, then sprayed on two layers of Rust-oleum Painter's Touch Ultra Cover, Satin Aqua. This is my new best friend in spray paints. I could have gotten away with only one layer, I tell you. Covered beautifully! The hardware was sprayed with...you guessed it...everyone's favorite, Oil Rubbed Bronze.

I glazed with Behr Glaze tinted black .Then I sanded quite a lot, because I wanted a really distressed look, PLUS I only realized half way through that it works better if you use a damp cloth to wipe off the glaze.

I had to sand to get the glaze off where it was a little too black. It all worked out in the end, because ,.. have I mentioned that I LURVE my new buffet?

Do you have any ideas on how to decorate my buffet? Maybe I should modge podge the back?

Put white dishes?
